Programs Through Silver Springs

MISSION STATEMENT
The Camp at Silver Springs Farm is designed for children who experience challenges in traditional school and social settings. Camp will help them to develop and improve their social skills—including establishing and maintaining friendships with peers and adults—through recreational and enrichment activities designed to maximize each child’s strengths.

HISTORY
Silver Springs has a 150-year history of serving children and families from Southeastern Pennsylvania. As a community of educators, health professionals and caretakers, we are devoted to providing the most therapeutic environment for children with special needs, emphasizing their unique strengths. Recognizing that children with special needs in the community have limited options for growing, learning and having fun in a structured and beautiful environment during summer vacation, Silver Springs created the Camp at Silver Springs Farm.

ACTIVITIES
All camp activities promote social and emotional development to improve each camper’s confidence and feelings of success:

• Instructional Swimming
• Recreational Swimming
• Arts and Crafts
• Music
• Drama
• Team Sports
• Social Skills Training
• Cooperative Games
• Nature Exploration and Appreciation
• Outings
• Barbecues

STAFFING
Our camp counselors are selected for their experience, enthusiasm, maturity and love of children. All camp staff members receive pre-camp training that includes first aid, CPR and professional development related to working with children with special needs.

LOCATION
Located on 35 acres in Plymouth Meeting, the Silver Springs campus includes contemporary school buildings with access to state-of-the-art technology, an indoor pool, athletic fields, barn with farm animals and picnic areas.

TRANSPORTATION
Families may transport their children to and from camp or purchase daily transportation services. For the safety of all campers, parents are asked to abide by arrival and departure procedures. Please note that campers will be released only to adults listed on each camper’s registration form and that photo identification is required.
